If you were not in L.A this past weekend, then you missed out on very exciting weekend filled with jaw dropping performances and memorable moments you! The 2016 B.E.T. Experience was in full effect as artist like Remy Ma, Fat Joe, Kevin Gates and Desiigner made their way to the Los Angeles Convention Center to tear the stage up. Newcomers Dreezy and Desiigner got the crowd warmed up and on their feet grooving to their smash hits “Body”(Dreezy) and “Panda” (Desiigner).
Dynamic Duo FatJoe and Remy Ma ended the show with that New York swag performing a medley of their hit songs, and of course the current hip hop anthem “All The Way Up”. Once they performed this song, the crowd lost it! There was just this raw energy that I felt Fat Joe and Remy Ma let loose in the atmosphere that just ignited the crowd.
Sunday proved to be just as eventful. Arielle and I started the day off attending the acting workshop of “For Better or For Worst” actress Tasha Smith. Tasha smith started off the workshop explaining her story of how she got into acting and gave us some motivational anecdotes before going into the core of the workshop. She taught us the 12 steps to acting, which is explained in the book entitled “The Power of the Actor” by Ivana Chubbuck. Tasha Smith closed out the class by having everyone participate in breathing exercises that helps with relaxation and also a few different acting exercise to help with character development within a scene. Although this was my first time taking class with Tasha Smith, I learned so much from this one class. I was able to make myself vulnerable enough to drop into the emotional state that she was asking for. I would definitely recommend her class to other actors trying to harness their craft.
Later, we went back to the Convention Center for the BETX World Of Dance Competition where some of the worlds top dance groups came out to compete for a cash grand prize. The competition was judged by dance superstars the Les Twins.
Afterwards, we went to the JW Marriott hotel after the B.E.T. awards finished. I had conversed with stars like Tinashe, Kevin McCall, Snoop Dog, and Benzino. To be amongst stars that I would always see on T.V. or in magazines was just a surreal moment for me. Attending the B.E.T. experience was a life changing moment for me and one that I will never forget. There where so many great performances and so many memorable moments. I cant wait to see what they have in store for next year.
