The first official trailer to one of hip hop’s most iconic rap artists, the late Tupac Shakur, bio-pic All Eyez On Me, released in time to celebrate what would be his 45th birthday.
Some like me would consider it a teaser, but it showed a fresh face that the big screen has never seen before, an actor who goes by the name Demetrius Shipp Jr. His physical build and facial features favor Tupac, which will make fans happy. The storyline will of course include: Biggie Smalls, Faith Evans, Suge Knight, Dr. Dre, Jada Pinkett-Smith, and his mother who recently died –Afeni Shakur.
What the viewers can expect to see throughout the film is love, poverty, drug abuse, gang activity, gun violence, police brutality, racism, and the ugly side of what the music industry is rumored to have been like in the 90’s. It can be considered a mixture between the bio-pics Straight Outta Compton and Notorious.
Director, Benny Boom, is known for his video documentary skills within the entertainment industry, but this film has the creative potential to reposition his career for the better. The cast, for the most part, have been seen on a mixture of small and big screen when it comes to television and film. That will help enable viewers to pay more attention to the storyline and not so much the actors who portray the characters.
The film is rumored to be released in theaters fall of 2016, but keep an eye on THA L. SPOT blog for more updates.
