Jessica Lanice (JL):
What do you do or what are you known for?
Fatiah Rebbekkah (FR):
I am known as being a “go to” person. I can get you a wardrobe, on the VIP list at the hottest event, and on the cover of your favorite magazine. I’ve done this for endless celebrities over the past three years. Aside from that, for the past five years, I have also been working as a celebrity fashion stylist. You may begin to feel like I do a million things because I also do PR for a football player during the season, and I am also the Creative Director for The Morgan Magazine.
JL: What made you choose this industry?
FR: Since I was in 6th grade, I knew that I wanted to be like Joan Rivers, for my thoughts and advice to be respected and the world to love my style. Fashion and entertainment are so much more to me than the glam and the perks as I truly love what I do. This is my dream job and I only want it to get bigger. I am 24 years old, so my hope is before I turn 30, I am one of the most sought-after branding consultants and have my own TV show. I know that this is where I belong and I would not want to do anything else.
JL: How long have you been doing it for?
FR: I have been working in the industry for five years. At only 19 years old, I was published a few times in major publications, including Bullet Magazine, Aeon Mens Magazine and Molito Magazine. From there, I worked with cast members on VH1’s “Basketball Wives LA.” I can only pray my career gets bigger and better over the next 5 years!
JL: What have you accomplished?
FR: I have received not only notoriety, but also respect from many individuals who have been in the industry for a longer amount of time, including starting a friendship with a stylist I looked up to as a kid. I have also accomplished many of my own goals. My name has graced the pages of amazing magazines, I have worked with people I never thought I would ever meet and I have sat side-by-side next to my favorite designers like Betsey Johnson and Kenneth Cole. I can go on and on about the blessings in my life. I still cannot believe it when I walk red carpets at screenings or at Fashion Week. I have so much more to accomplish, but a lot has already happened.
JL: What is this new show about “Players Get Played”?
FR: Oh my GOD! “Player Gets Played” is a show about unity amongst women when men – oh wait, boys – are unfaithful. I was with my ex-boyfriend at the time of filming for three years who, prior to us dating, was an amazing friend of mine. I found out that he was not only cheating on me and lying to me, but it was with three other women. One of the women my sister knew personally which made it worse. The show is really empowering, I cannot wait for you to see it because you’re going to love it, I can promise you that much. I felt like I was in the twilight zone, because I felt like the wife in one of my favorite movies, “The Other Woman.”
JL: What made you want to do this show?
FR: This is a funny story! I was approached by my boyfriend at the time, Justin, to do the show with him. He told me it was about his life and his music, so I had no idea what was really happening. I am so glad that I did the show and would not change it for anything in the world.
JL: What role do you play in this show?
FR: You get to see me find out the truth of my relationship with Justin and help each girl to be strong and keep their head up. In the other episodes, you will see different men and women from various cities. Make sure you tune into my episode airing Wednesday, June 17th at 9:30pm ET/PT to witness it all!
JL: What is your goal for this show?
FR: I am a girl’s girl. I love women to be strong and direct. It is important for females to see women who are smart, well- spoken, classy, successful and sexy. It is also important for women to know they are not alone, specifically in instances like cheating. More importantly, it is great for women to see how other ladies handled situations like these. Men (and women) who cheat sometimes get away with everything. Thankfully, I am strong and have an amazing support system to stand up for myself. The women of “Player Gets Played” can show other women in similar situations how to handle this kind of situation.
JL: What can we expect from the show?
FR: You can expect to laugh a lot, but also cry a little, and in the end, you will feel joy and excitement. All in that order! You will see people’s true self and emotions and what we all went through. Get ready for a roller coaster of emotions!
JL: Where can people watch it?
FR: Wednesdays at 9:30pm ET/PT on Oxygen, beginning on June 10.
“I hope you enjoy the show! Women need to stick together as opposed to fighting one another. Stay wise, think things through, and always remain empowered.”- Fatiah Rebbekkah
