Rumor has it, music mogul, Jay-Z, is in the process of purchasing New York radio station Hot 97.
According to Media Take Out, negotiation meetings include celebs such as Jay, Carmelo Anthony, and plenty of lawyers and investment bankers. And Hot 97’s morning show broadcast today seemed to embrace the idea of Jay-z being their new “boss.”
WQHT Hot 97 is currently owned by Emmis Communications and is one of its flagship radio properties. Hot 97’s sister station 107.5 WBLS and their ESPN channel 98.7 may also be a part of the negotiations.
This may explain why long time Hot 97 DJ Funk Master Flex has recently expressed beef towards Jay.
Over the weekend, Flex went on air and went on a rant about some issue he has with Jay-Z. He later put up a screenshot on instagram of a text he received from Jay. He commented the photo with how he ignored the private calls from Jay and now will continue to ignore his texts, despite the text being in all caps and apparent urgency.
Funk Flex also claims that the Jay-Z owned website Life+Times stole an idea he had for an app.
Take a listen to the rant below and let us know how you feel about Jay-Z owning legendary Hot 97. Can Jay-Z save and revamp the station to its original fire?
