Shaliek Rivers – Singer/Songwriter
Shaliek Rivers, singer/songwriter, from Bronx, NY has been singing from an early age. When growing up he listened to Donny Hathaway, Stevie Wonder, and Sam Cooke, who were his inspirations to sing. Shaliek Rivers’ grandfather would encourage him to sing which led him to perform in shows at his school’s programs and other events. Shaliek Rivers doesn’t limit himself to one genre of music. He does R&B, pop, soul, and more.
Shaliek Rivers started singing professionally when he was signed to Universal Music Group in 2001. He writes all of his songs with some collaboration with other songwriters. Listeners can gain from Shaliek Rivers’ music is that he is passionate, comes from his heart and shows he is not afraid to show emotions as a man. He takes his time when working on his songs. Shaliek Rivers has written songs for Nicole Scherzinger, Case, Day 26 and Jordan Knight (lead singer from New Kids on the Block).
Shaliek Rivers has recently released his album called “I Don’t Wanna Be Famous (Stripped)”. This album is the stripped down, raw and acoustic version of his originally album “I Don’t Wanna Be Famous.” He took five songs from the previous album and added four new songs to this album. “I Don’t Wanna Be Famous” has a double meaning behind it. He was dropped from a previous record label and people would question how his music career is going. Since Shaliek Rivers’ built up a shell around himself because of the drop his response would be “I don’t wanna be famous.” The other meaning to this title is he doesn’t want to do music to be famous. He does it to encourage others to be singers, songwriters and more.
Shaliek Rivers has a single and released a music video called “Can We Go Back”. This song tells a similar situation he went through in one of his relationships. Shaliek and his significant other would be doing their own thing and it was to the point that they were kind of separating from each other. Once he realized that they were distant from each other, he wanted to go back to how they used to be (Hence the title).
